Take a private boat excursion on the Patuxent River you can enjoy a date night or bring the whole family or a giant group of friends and head out for a relaxing and refreshing day on the water of Chesapeake Bay. You can even learn to sail from the expert boat guides or just sit and relax while someone does all the sailing for you aboard the Sea Hawk.
The Surf Art Gallery and Museum is located at 5005 Bayside Rd., Chesapeake Beach Maryland. This is recognized by those who know about it as a top cultural site and is a free museum that contains several great rare historic artifacts. Artifacts on display include historical items from the surfing world collected by the surfing legend Bruce Gabrielson over a 60-year span. Enjoy looking at several antique boards, signed posters from surf greats, and several other historical surfing artifacts. Though admission is free, reservations are required.
This is a combination museum and state park with over 70 archaeological sites dating back to the prehistoric period of 9000 years ago all the way through the colonial period. It is a fun way to take in Maryland’s history.
This gem located in Solomons is a sculptural arts center. It is located where the Patuxent River meets the Chesapeake Bay. The sculpture garden is a quarter-mile walking path meandering through woods featuring several art sculptures both permanent and temporarily loaned including items from the Smithsonian and National Gallery of Art. Annemarie is host to several popular annual festivals and rotating exhibitions.
Not so much of a hidden gem but a gem nonetheless in Solomons. There is so much to do you could spend several days and not experience everything. This area preserves the Maritime history of the town and offers several great exhibits, places to explore, and tons of amazing educational programs for children.
A very quiet and unobstructed place to enjoy South Maryland natural areas located in Lusby Maryland.
This Vineyard is one on the Patuxent Wine Trail and is located in Prince Frederick. In addition to the beautiful vineyard there is a movie offered on the big screen outside as a drive-in atmosphere. Movie nights are quite popular and snacks are available for purchase including wine, wine slushies, beer, popcorn and pizza.
This microbrewery is located on Skinners Turn Road in Owings. All the beer at Scorpion is produced with local ingredients and an emphasis on pride in quality. Come for a tasting, a tour, or to fill up a growler.
A fun spot to take in turn of the century railway history. You can also bike the Chesapeake Bay Railway Trail for some outdoor fun which is near the museum. The museum is small, but full of fun railway history artifacts.
